Words can’t describe Hyla and all that makes this education so special, but a visit will! Please contact us to schedule a tour with our Head of School, Suzanne Messinger. Seeing kids and faculty in action, hearing joyful students voices, and walking through our beautiful campus yourself will give you the greatest sense of middle school at Hyla. We look forward to meeting you.
We welcome inquiries at any time and would be happy to answer questions and take you on a tour of our school.

We welcome you to join us at these upcoming admissions events:
Admissions Night – for parents only
Wednesday, January 10th
We welcome parents to Hyla to learn about our school, our program and our philosophy. Through teacher presentations, parents will learn about our curriculum in each grade. Parents will also hear from Head of School, Suzanne Messinger.
Admissions Open House – for parents and children
During our Open House event students enjoy a Scavenger Hunt that takes them all around campus so they can meet our teachers in their classrooms. Parents are free to wander and talk with teachers all well. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to get a feel for our school and explore our facilities.
Prospective students and their parents often ask what we look for in selecting students for the school. Simply stated, we seek to match a student’s ability and needs with the goals and resources of our school. We actively seek a diverse student body. We aim for a spectrum of capabilities, interests, and personalities. We look for students whose growth we can foster, and who will—in turn—enrich and believe in our school community and its efforts.
Acceptance Decisions Calendar
Acceptance decisions for early admission will be made by mid-December on completed applications received on or before December 11, 2017. Families will be notified of our decisions via letter mailed December 15th. Applications received after December 11th will be rolled into open admissions season beginning in January. We thank you for your interest and we look forward to getting to know you and your child.
Education is an investment with an immeasurable impact. Hyla is committed to making sure our educational experience is accessible to all middle school students regardless of a family’s ability to pay tuition. We understand that choosing an independent school education represents a significant joint financial commitment by the school and our families. Typically 20 to 25 percent of our families use our tuition assistance resources to help pay tuition costs. Even if the cost of a Hyla education feels out of reach based on your family’s budget, we encourage you to apply. We are happy to talk with you about our tuition assistance process and you can read more about it here.
