Hyla Middle School is a co-ed, independent, non-profit school which serves Bainbridge Island and the surrounding communities.

Educational philosophy: Middle-school-age, child-centered, participatory, and academically focused education.

Total enrollment: 84 – 90 students in grades 6, 7, and 8

Class Size: Each grade is divided in two sections with class size of 15 students generally.

Financial Aid: Twenty-five percent of our families receive financial aid.

Courses taught: Art, Drama, Electives, English, History, Humanities, Human Relations, Library, Math, Physical Education, Science, and Spanish.

Transportation: Kitsap Transit bus service stops at the school and we encourage car-pooling.  Hyla provides morning and afternoon bus service to Poulsbo, and afternoon bus service to Winslow.

School Hours: 8:00am to 3:00pm

Faculty & Staff: There are 9 full-time teachers, 3 part-time teachers, a school counselor, a support services tutor, a librarian and technology director, and an administrative team of 3.

Campus: Located on an historic 13-acre homestead with 3 classroom buildings, library, computer lab, a barn, playfield, sport court, meadow, and woods.
